The Leatherby Libraries is pleased to announce that Chapman University has signed a read-and-publish agreement with SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. SPIE is the world’s largest collection of optics and photonics applied research, with over 550,000 journal articles and conference papers spanning biomedicine, communications, sensors, defense and security, manufacturing, electronics, energy, and imaging from 1962 to the present.

This agreement makes this content available to Chapman faculty, students, and staff. It allows Chapman-affiliated authors to publish their articles Open Access in SPIE journals at no cost to themselves. It covers the Article Processing Charges (APCs) (i.e., Open Access publication fees) for Chapman authors whose research articles are accepted for publication.

To learn more about how to publish an article open access in an SPIE journal, please see our guide on Free Open Access Publishing Opportunities for Chapman Authors. This guide will also include instructions for other free open access publishing opportunities for Chapman researchers, such as our deals with the American Chemical Society, Cambridge University Press, IOP, Springer, and Wiley.
