Where’s the Data? Celebrating International Love Data Week 2026!
February 2, 2026
International Love Data Week is an annual event hosted by the ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research) at the University of Michigan, during the week of Valentine’s Day, to celebrate data and foster greater appreciation for data literacy across universities, non-profits, government agencies, and other organizations. This year, the theme for Love Data Week is “Where’s the Data?”, which invites participants to consider how data moves through its entire lifecycle, from collection and storage to preservation.
From February 9 to February 13, the Leatherby Libraries’ Library Research and Data Services (LRDS) team will have a range of data-related workshops and activities to enhance knowledge of data resources and services within the Chapman community. Continue reading to see how you can celebrate Love Data Week!
Stop by Our Love Data Week Table!
The Leatherby Libraries will have a Love Data Week Table in the First Floor Lobby on Monday, February 9th, and Tuesday, February 10th, from 9 AM to 12 PM, with data-related brochures and resources available for the Chapman research community. There will also be data-themed crosswords and heart-shaped lollipops available to get you in the Love Data Week spirit. Throughout the week, members of the LRDS team will be available at the table to answer questions you might have about Love Data Week.

Writing Data Management Plans for Grant Proposals using DMPTool
As of December 31, 2025, all federal agencies that fund research will have updated Public Access Plans that require a Data Management Plan (DMP) to accompany grant proposals. Some agencies, such as NSF and NIH, have been requiring Data Management or “Data Management and Sharing” Plans. These documents lay out the qualities of the collected data, how it will be stored and protected, where and how it will be shared, and who will be responsible for managing the data.
This workshop is from 1:00 to 2:00 PM and will cover the basics of writing funder-required DMPs and using DMPtool.org, a resource for formatting, filling out, and collaborating on DMPs. Templates such as those on DMPTool help produce higher-quality DMPs in less time.
