CUSP student administering flu vaccination

Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) partnered with Ralphs Pharmacy to provide a drive-thru flu shot clinic for the Orange County community in October 2020. Ralphs Pharmacy has been an advocate of community health and wellness for many years and also supported CUSP and its Pharm.D. students through patient safety education, student scholarship, graduation award ceremony sponsorship, and more. With the support of Dr. Linh Lee, VP of Pharmacy, and Dr. Lord Sarino, Health and Wellness Manager of Admin Services at Ralphs Pharmacy, the flu shot clinic was coordinated by Dr. Jeff Goad, professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at CUSP who also served as the immediate Past-President of the California Immunization Coalition and is a member of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 Vaccine Drafting Guidelines Workgroup.

Supervised by CUSP faculty and Ralphs pharmacists, CUSP Pharm.D. students administered the shots, which were also made available for those who did not have health insurance in our community. This flu shot clinic demonstrated CUSP’s mission to optimize the delivery of healthcare for those with diverse and unmet needs in Orange County by helping improve protection against seasonal influenza in communities surrounding the university.
