Grants

  • Dr. Cintia Citterio was awarded a new investigator grant of $11,000.00 by the AACP for the study of “Molecular Pathogenesis of Thyroid Cystinosis and New Therapeutic Approaches”.
  • Dr. Gary Fong received one of Chapman University’s Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity awards with an amount of $14,960 for his project titled: “Identifying epidemiological trends, treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, and opportunities to improve care for patients with candidemia in a vulnerable, resource-limited population.”
  • Dr. Amy Kang received an inaugural patient safety research award of $10,000 for her project titled “Addressing the Silent Threat: Inappropriate Diagnosis and Management of Urinary Tract Infection in Outpatient Settings.” This project ultimately aims to develop a targeted antimicrobial stewardship intervention to minimize inappropriate prescribing practices for UTIs in outpatient settings.
  • Dr. Jennifer Ko and mentor Dr. Jerika Lam with co-investigators Dr. Emmanuelle Schwartzman and Dr. Richard Beuttler received the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Scholars grant with an amount of $10,000 for their project titled: “Fostering Patient-Pharmacist Concordance with Patients Who Speak Spanish.”
  • Dr. Moom Roosan received one of Chapman University’s Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity awards with an amount of $15,000 for her project titled: “Feasibility to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment from blood.”
  • Dr. Sherry Wang and Dr. Yuxin Wen (School of Engineering) have been awarded funding of $10,000 from the McGovern Foundation’s Training Program in Trusted AI for their project titled “Advancing Equity and Transparency in AI: Identifying and Remedying Algorithmic Bias in Opioid Overdose Risk Scores to Improve Access to Opioid Analgesics for Patients.”
  • Dr. Jason Yamaki and Dr. Sherif Elshahawi received the CUSP collaboration grant entitled “Developing Drug Leads to Inhibit C. Difficile bacterial infection.”

Awards and Recognitions

  • Dr. Hindu Rao was elected as the coordinator-elect for the APhA–APPM Medical Home/ACO Special Interest Group (SIG).
  • Dr. Jennifer Ko was elected to serve as the Secretary of Knowledge Management for the AACP Public Health SIG for the 2024-2026 term.
  • On behalf of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Dr. Kamaljit Kaur was invited to serve as a Standing Committee Member to the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Project Grant Program for a 2-year term.
