Doctor of Pharmacy student Tien Dinh has been elected as the Regional Delegate for Region 8 of the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists.

This position is a significant appointment and is the first time that a CUSP student has been elected in our young history.

As a voice of student pharmacists, Tien will serve as one of two Regional Delegates and represent student members across California, Hawaii, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado in the APhA House of Delegates. Tien will coordinate caucuses, contribute to policy work through the body’s Resolutions Committee, and maintain connections with Region 8 members through digital media content. Tien will also have a strong hand in planning the Midyear Regional Meeting.

Her term of service begins immediately and will continue through November 2025.

Tien is already implementing new practices to bridge gaps in student knowledge and participation in APhA. “As Regional Delegate, I plan to increase student pharmacist involvement through implementing a monthly newsletter including an understandable breakdown of the various topics of discussion within Region 8 as well as a regular reminder of the policy process,” says Tien. “To gather a better understanding of the status of each chapter’s involvement in policy and the areas of improvement, I plan to organize meetings with the President’s and Policy Vice President’s of the region 8 student chapters at the beginning and intermittently throughout my term.”
