I am pleased to announce that Lawrence Lau has joined Chapman University as the Director of Industry Alliances and Commercialization. Lawrence has extensive experience working in both industry collaborations and technology licensing at top tier research institutions. He most recently served as the Associate Director, Corporate Collaborations at USC where he engaged with faculty and the private sector in forming corporate research partnerships to increase the pace of innovation and commercialization. Prior to USC, Lawrence worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Licensing Associate, at UC Berkeley as an Industry Relations Manager and University of Victoria as a Technology Transfer Manager. Lawrence has a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from the University of Victoria, and is a Certified Licensing Professional.

At Chapman, Lawrence will be responsible for growing and supporting outside research partnerships with industry, facilitating and negotiating agreements with partners, and management of intellectual property and commercialization opportunities. Lawrence’s personal interests include the outdoors, different sorts of sports, traveling, and visiting art museums. Welcome to the team, Lawrence!
