Marijuana’s medical use is one of the hot topics of the moment in the national media, but a leading scientist at Chapman University who has long studied the plant’s properties is working on research that may make pot an easier pill to swallow.
Susan Yang, Ph.D., professor, Schmid College of Science, published ground-breaking research on the topic early this year in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, which showed that CBD alone can reduce vomiting in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The second paper, published this month in Neuroscience, confirms that THC has a similar effect. See an Orange County Register interview with Dr. Yang explaining her work and what it holds for the future.
