Chapman MESA to Host Regional Preliminary for the JPL Invention Challenge
September 13, 2012
The Chapman University MESA Program has been asked to host the southern regional preliminary competitions for the JPL Invention Challenge. The JPL Invention Challenge is a NASA-sponsored event hosted by the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL). The competition is open to local middle and high school students. In the past, Challenges have ranged from designing a Rube Goldberg device that lights a match to a device that plays a recognizable tune. This year, the theme is “Streaming Tissue Toss”. Full rules can be found here. Twenty-five teams from Orange and Riverside Counties are anticipated to participate. The top 10 teams from the Chapman event will earn the privilege of competing in the final event at JPL in December.
Any faculty, staff or students interested in helping at this event are asked to contact Vonna Hammerschmitt.
