Tortoise survives 30 years in closet? Prof Caporaso discusses the story on WGN Radio
January 31, 2013
Red-foot tortoises usually have long life spans, but can they live 30 years without food or water?
Lately there has been some buzz surrounding a particular tortoise in Brazil who may have accomplished just that. The tortoise, Manuela, was thought to be lost in 1982 during a home renovation, only to be found in a closet this past weekend by her owners.
WGN Radio’s Mike McConnell contacted Chapman University’s own Dr. Fred Caporaso to find out his thoughts on this story. Listen in on their podcast as they discuss the importance of a tortoise’s diet and environment, and whether a 30 year life span in a closet is truly possible for these tortoises!
