TEDWeekends and Dechow listen in to the universe
February 26, 2013
TEDWeekends, a weekly special in the Huffington Post, features Chapman faculty and blogger, Doug Dechow.
Over the weekend, TEDWeekends explored a different aspect of our universe. Sure, we’ve all seen images and satellite footage of our sun and the planets in our solar system, but what do they sound like? In addition to an original TEDTalk, TEDWeekends hand-selects bloggers to get their insight on it; among those bloggers was Science Librarian and Schmid College faculty Doug Dechow. Dechow along with Anne Leahy, who write for their blog: Lofty Ambitions, complemented the story with a terrific post and were featured in this recent TEDWeekends special.
The original idea of the TEDTalk focused on the sounds of the Sun and all the other planets. But since Earth is also part of this universe, and also emits radio waves, Dechow and Leahy asked readers to think “what do we sound like?” Read their take on this fascinating subject and listen to some cosmic sounds in the TEDTalk.
