Interstices: An Exploration in Creativity
will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Bush Conference Center, Beckman Hall 404. The event’s five exciting panelists include:
- Chancellor Daniele C. Struppa, mathematician
- Keir Pearson, Academy-award-winning writer
- Pico Iyer, renowned journalist
- Michelle Miller-Day, health communications researcher and professor of Communication Studies in the Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Jocelyn Buckner, theater historian and assistant professor of theater in the College of Performing Arts
The panelists, with the help of moderator
Dean Patrick Fuery
, will be exploring, the following questions:
1. What are the significance of creative rituals and impact of creative space?
2. What role does creativity have in problem solving?
3. How do traditional and non-traditional views of creativity impact our own creative experiences?
One of the most exciting aspects of this event is the opportunity for students to explore these questions and how they personally impact their own creative journey through the making of a personal “creative map”. The event will help promote “outside the box” thinking on tradition views of creativity and show how even science can be creative.
