Schmid College invites you to attend our events below on Saturday, October 5:

Faculty Master Class with Interim Dean Dr. Jason Keller:
California’s Coastal Wetlands (with carbon)
10:00 – 11:00 AM
California has lost over 90% of the wetlands that existed in the state in the 1800s. The loss of these important ecosystems has consequences for wildlife and coastal communities. Chapman students have been part of a growing research area exploring how carbon stored in wetlands might be used to aid in their conservation along California’s coast.

Faculty Master Class with Dr. Patricia Lopes:
Why do we Feel Sick?
2:00 – 3:00 PM
When suffering from an infection, we may feel like we don’t want to eat, drink, or talk to anyone; your own body is making you feel this way. We will dive into the intersection of immunity, hormones, brain and disease, to try to understand what leads us to feel sick during an infection.

Keck Center for Science and Engineering Open House
2:00 – 4:00 PM
Come see and tour the Keck Center, celebrating its first birthday and witness science on display! Check-in at the Beckman Lobby – first floor of the Keck Center, across from Argyros Forum
