Professor Tom Piechota receives a joint appointment with Schmid College of Science and Technology and Fowler School of Engineering. Dr. Piechota is a Civil and Environmental Engineer who, as VP for Research, oversaw Chapman’s climb to R2 status.

Dr. Piechota’s teaching and research interests center around the investigation of climate impacts on regional water resources and society using high-resolution climate data/information, forecasting of water supply under changing climate conditions, drought and flood impacts in urban stormwater in urban environments, use of remote sensing data and geographic information systems for improved evaluation of hydrology and water systems.

Dr. Piechota previously worked with graduate students in Computational and Data Sciences. Now his teaching duties will be evenly split between Schmid College of Science and Technology and Fowler School of Engineering and will expand to work with undergraduates in our Grand Challenges Initiative Program.
