The Health Scholar Program (formerly Clinical Care Extender) provides students the unique experience of direct patient care in a hospital setting. Students become valuable members of the patient care team as they serve alongside physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.

What exactly is a Health Scholar? A Health Scholar is a student who participates in hands-on patient care within the hospital setting. As a Health Scholar, you will assist staff with the following types of activities: taking vitals, ambulation (i.e. help a patient walk), bathing, feeding, re-positioning and transfer, You will help with a myriad of tasks in a variety of hospital nursing units. As a Health Scholar, you will gain unparalleled exposure to the medical field and learn what it really takes to be a health care professional.

We accept applications online year-round, and the deadlines listed on our website (link below) determine when you begin.

The next application deadline is November 15, 2017 for students who will train in January and start rotations on February 1, 2018.
