Thinking about taking the first step into your academic or creative journey? Have lots of questions about how to get started? The Center for Undergraduate Excellence has you covered. 

Join us on Thursday, October 1 from 10AM-11AM over Zoom to attend this student-led virtual panel! The panel will feature six panelists with varying academic and creative backgrounds: 

Vidal Arroyo

Vidal Arryo graduated in 2019 and majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. During his time as an undergraduate, heconducted research about pancreatic cancer. He is Chapman University’s first ever Rhodes Scholar recipient, which means he’s currently completing his masters degree in Statistics at Oxford University. 

 

 

 

Jessica Bochinski

Jessica Bochinski graduated in 2018 and majored in Art History and Anthropology. During her time as an undergraduate, she served as a student scholar ambassador and conducted research as a SURF fellow about 19th century British revivalist artists and artistic movements. She currently works as the Registrar for the Escalette Permanent Collection of Art, caring for and cataloging the objects in the collection.

 

 

 

Kayley Cho

Kayley Cho is a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is a student scholar ambassador and SURF fellow with a research focus in biochemistry, specifically  Biochemistry, using targeted drug delivery using siRNA.

 

 

 

 

Vivian Luong

Vivian Luong is a senior majoring in Health Sciences. On campus, Luong is a lab manager, chemistry supplemental instructor (SI), anatomy lab intern, student scholar ambassador, and conducted research with SURF this summer. Her research focuses on health psychology, specifically with pain medication in children. 

 

 

 

 

Nicole Saito

Nicole Saito is a junior majoring in Political Science, History, and Economics. She is a student scholar ambassador and SURF fellow with a research focus on Native Hawaiian and Asian-American politics.

 

 

 

 

Leana Sottile

 

Leana Sottile is currently pursuing her masters degree in War and Society with Chapman’s 4+1 program. During her undergraduate years, she majored in Television Writing & Production and History. She is a student scholar ambassador and conducted research for SURF this summer, with a focus on the intersection of American musical theatre and war memory.

 

 

Pursuing your individual academic or creative passions may seem intimidating, but attending this event can be your first step in getting started. From the words of the late American writer and poet Audre Lorde, “Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge.”
