Through My Eyes: A Foreign Lens
October 26, 2015
The Center for Global Education is launching International Education Week from November 2-7, 2015. The week will consist of an international food fair, art displays, international dialogues, and much more to show the importance and relevance of international and cross-cultural events on campus.
A highlight of the week is the event “Through My Eyes: A Foreign Lens” on Wednesday, November 4 at 5pm in Argyros Forum 201. Listen to stories and see the winning photos from study abroad students who won the Center for Global Education Photo Contest! This year’s photos come from South Africa, Spain, Thailand, France, New Zealand, and Italy. Students who went abroad will talk about the special moments they captured and what their experience was like going abroad. The photos will also be displayed in the Student Union during the month of November.
Special guest speakers Karyn Planett ’70 and Geoff Thompson will discuss travel photography from their journeys around the world. Karyn Planett’s adventures started on Semester at Sea as a Chapman student. This launched her career in the travel industry from the Australian Outback to the Arctic Circle. Planett and Thompson have crisscrossed the globe, sharing a lifetime full of wanderlust that never abates. Their award-winning photos and stories fill several books, including their recently released How to Capture Your Travel Stories in Words & Pictures. Via their images and adventures, they offer tips on enhancing your own travel tales.
Join this event if you are interested in travel and photography! Refreshments will be served.
