Canvas Storage and Utilizing External Tools to Share Files For Instructors
December 8, 2020
Dear Chapman University faculty,
Canvas offers limited storage space in each course 1 gigabyte.
To ensure you won’t run out of space, we recommend using external file-sharing tools such as Google Drive or Office 365.
- If you want to upload documents to Canvas directly, consider converting them to PDF. Converting files to PDF will help decrease the file size.
- Use third-party tools to share large files on Canvas.
- Use third-party tools to create share files outside of Canvas. If you choose to share files in shared folders outside of Canvas, make sure to follow FERPA guidelines.
- Instead of uploading video files to Canvas, Use YuJa to share video files with your students.

Thank you.
