We wanted to share that the ETS e-rater tool will no longer be available for Turnitin assignments after 12/31/24.

“Turnitin’s relationship with ETS and their e-rater grammar service will be terminating. Customers will not be able to use e-rater after December 31, 2024.”

What is the ETS e-rater tool?

When an instructor enables grammar checking using ETS e-rater for a Turnitin assignment, “the e-rater grammar feedback technology, developed by ETS®, automatically checks submissions to an assignment for grammar, usage, mechanics, style and spelling errors; providing in-depth feedback with on paper marks.” (Turnitin Guides)

What does this change mean for Chapman instructors and students?

Instructors will no longer have the option to turn on ETS e-rater when creating Turnitin assignments in Canvas.

Students will no longer see ETS e-rater feedback in the Turnitin Feedback Studio.

How can Chapman students receive feedback on their grammar?
