Broadcasting in the Chapman Radio Studio

Throughout Chapman Radio’s history, the priority of both the listener and the DJ was always equipment. From the original AM technologies when we first started in 1967, to our shift to an online interface in the 1990s, the technology of the club is the most important part to connect our student and faculty DJs to the Chapman community. That is why we are again working to push our reach and innovation further.

Last semester, the Chapman Radio team started a complete overhaul of our systems and studio. This renovation has been long in the works and we are happy to see it come to fruition now in 2020! Mike Boyle, the broadcast engineer behind Angels Baseball AM 890, has been helping in developing our new station. We are hoping to reach out to you, the alumni, by giving us a helping hand and getting involved! Contact us if you would like to work with us to further develop our new station and/or help develop an Alumni Hall-of-Fame show series!

A brief list of the new changes here at Chapman Radio:

  • STATION RENOVATION: We have completely gutted out our old station in the Henley Halls basement and are rebuilding from the ground up with state of the art technology and new furniture with the help of our new friend Mike Boyle.
  • NEW CLASS STRUCTURE: Instead of having weekly 10pm meetings, we now have monthly class/club meetings the first Wednesday of every month where we have a live broadcast and live performances from campus bands. We also now have workshops that are being offered by our own staff members who each teach a group of class members skills that they can apply to their show like content development, how to interview, and strategic planning to name a few.
  • STRONGER ON CAMPUS PRESENCE: Chapman Radio proudly hosts weekly tablings in the Piazza to promote our brand and spread the word of on-campus radio. We are also working with Mike Keysier of Student Engagement to play Chapman Radio curated playlists around the campus.

If you would like to get involved please reach out to us via our Instagram page @chapmanradio, or email our Faculty Advisor Travis Bartosh at  facultyadvisor@chapmanradio.live. We can’t wait to hear from you!
