Creating Innovation Social Media Content Eduardo Rozen Social Media Management Intern at Dot Dot Dot Social
October 3, 2021
My name is Eduardo Rozen, I am a graduating senior class of 2021. After returning to Chapman after an extended leave I was excited to be able to do an internship in a field that I was not too familiar with but that is very prevalent in todays world. I chose to do my internship at Dot Dot Dot Social as their Social Media Account Management Intern.
Dot Dot Dot Social is a San Diego-based social media agency that focuses on helping small businesses prioritize their social media presence, and through creating engaging content grow brand loyalty for customers to be more inclined to purchase. It is a full service agency which does everything from content creation, community management and influencer programs.
Although there were many valuable moments throughout my semester as an intern. My most valuable experience from my internship at Dot Dot Dot Social was the planning and execution of photoshoots.
I had some experience in my previous positions with photoshoots but never was I tasked with everything from start to finish so when I was assigned these projects, I was eager to learn more and develop a new skill.
One of the most interesting aspects of these photoshoots was that since I was also in charge of the creative content posting for the clients which pertained to the photoshoots, I was able to envision what shots I wanted to get in order to have beautiful and engaging content to post. This was the first step in the planning of the photoshoot, where a pre-production document is made which includes all the planned shoots, the location and pertinent information, the props needed, and reference shots from other social media pages which we admire.
Having this pre-production document is maybe the most important part of a photoshoot because if you are very well prepared, you can execute all the shoots that you need and at once fill out the content calendar. It was great to lead these photoshoots and direct models and the photographer in what they need to be doing, it was not only a learning experience but also very fun day. A other fun thing about these shoots was that since it was COVID and we had to be more careful with hiring models for the photoshoots, I was one of the models.
At the end, the most rewarding part is receiving the photos and being able to visually see your accomplishments, envisioning something and having the result be right in line with how you pictured it makes all of the hard work and stress definitely worth it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this internship to anyone who would like to learn more about the social media field and who is willing to learn new skills and take challenges head on.
