LiveMore Superfoods Marketing Internship Emily Viscia's Internship experience for LiveMore Superfoods
December 13, 2024
My name is Emily Viscia, and I am a junior at Chapman University majoring in communication studies with a minor in leadership. During the Fall 2024 semester, I interned as the Social Media Manager and Marketing Intern for LiveMore Superfoods. This company focuses on promoting wellness through its superfood products, which promote clean eating. My role gave me hands-on experience in content creation, influencer marketing, and brand management—fields I’m deeply passionate about.
I found this internship through a mix of networking and online research. With prior experience working in the health and wellness industry, this company really caught my eye during my application process. After applying and interviewing with my manager, Julia, I was thrilled to join the LiveMore Superfoods team.
Responsibilities and Role
As the Social Media Manager and Marketing Intern, my primary responsibilities included running the company’s Instagram account, creating content, and coordinating influencer collaborations. Each day, I would work on an Excel sheet to find as many influencers as possible and other brands that could fit LiveMore’s branding. Each day, I would track which influencers and brands my manager, Julia, approved and continue to add more. Once approved, I contacted them to arrange product shipments and post-collaborations. I also managed direct messages and emails to engage with our audience and ensure the brand’s voice was consistent and approachable. This role sharpened my organizational skills and taught me how to balance multiple projects and deadlines effectively. It took work to stay efficient with each conversation about shipments, tracking numbers, or posts, but as time went on, this became much easier. I also was in charge of running the brand’s TikTok. I created several different TikToks and Instagram reels that helped pick up more views for the brand. I had to brainstorm and think outside the box to help stick to TikTok’s numerous trends. It helped me be creative and challenged me to think beyond just the brand and instead of what would catch someone’s attention.
Applying Communication Knowledge
My coursework at Chapman directly supported my internship success. A lot of my internship work consisted of reaching out to new brands and influencers, as well as maintaining contact with them throughout our work together. My coursework in Group Communication and Business Communication has helped teach me how to create successful relationships within the business world. My leadership classes also emphasized the value of teamwork and clear communication. These lessons were instrumental when collaborating with Julia and other team members to execute marketing campaigns.
Advice for Future Interns
If you’re considering an internship in social media marketing or the wellness industry, I highly recommend seizing the opportunity. Stay organized, communicate clearly, and don’t hesitate to take initiative. Building relationships with colleagues and influencers can open doors to exciting future opportunities.
