Meet Varenna Morris A new addition to the School of Communication Advisory Board!
November 27, 2024
Hello! My name is Varenna Morris, I am a freshman from San Diego, California! I am a Strategic and CorporateCommunications major and Creative and Cultural Studies minor.
Film has impacted my life since I was really young, so it comes as a surprise to most people when they hear I’m not a Dodge student. As a little kid, my grandma showed me “The Wizard of Oz,” and I was immediately hooked. I still watch one classic movie a week with my dad over FaceTime! I took many film classes in high school and created many of my own; it was what I was widely known for. But as amazing as Dodge is, I feel the School of Communications had a lot more to offer me when looking at applying to Chapman as a whole. When coming to Chapman for “Panther for a Day,” everyone I met
from the school of communications welcomed me with open arms, making me fall in love with the school and everything it stands for.
Fast forward to now, and I’m so happy I made the decision to go forward with SCC! I still do
want to work in the film industry when I’m older, and the school of communication is always there for me to give me the resources and education I need to succeed within the realms of PR, marketing, and company communications; the avenues in which I am interested in going down. I chose to apply to the Communications Advisory Board because during “Admitted Students Day,” all the people on the board at the time seemed genuinely happy to answer my questions and make me feel welcomed at Chapman. These advisors in the end are what made me choose Chapman as my college. I knew then that I wanted to be that same person to incoming prospective students for years to come. Those advisors, who I now get to call my friends and colleagues, are already teaching me so much about different opportunities at Chapman and how I can help others. Since I’m still a Freshman, there is still a lot for me still to learn and explore, but I’m happy to say I’ve already put my foot in the door! I’m planning on graduating a year early, and spending a Summer doing an internship abroad. Currently I am the Operations Manager at Kesem Chapman, and a club member of Spoonies, The Chapman Poetry Society, and The Outdoors Club!
Along with my on campus activities, I’m also a waitress at the Rutabegorz! I love to watch and analyze movies, read romance novels, and write poetry! I’m a worldwide traveler (25 countries and counting!), and value all time spent with friends and family. When I’m not busy you can find me at BlueBowl or looking for a new thrifted find!
I’m more than happy to answer any questions or simply to chat! Don’t ever hesitate to reach out.
