Hi! My name is Brooke Barry, and I just graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic and Corporate Communication and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During my last semester, I landed a remote internship at TrialGlow Marketing as a Business Operations Intern, which I found through LinkedIn. I was excited about the role because it allowed me to combine two areas I’m passionate about marketing operations and digital content creation.

My main responsibilities included coordinating product demos with 12+ stores and studios to help showcase our clients’ products. This meant reaching out to businesses, organizing schedules, and making sure each demo went as planned. I also worked with over 30 brand ambassadors, providing them with details on how to run the demos effectively and collect valuable customer feedback. A lot of what I did here reminded me of what I learned in COM 360: Influencer Marketing, where we talked about how influencers and ambassadors play a huge role in connecting brands with audiences. It was really cool to see this concept in action and realize how much impact these demos had on getting customers excited about the products.

I also spent a lot of time tracking demo performance and customer insights using Google Sheets. At first, handling all the data felt overwhelming, but it taught me how important it is to stay organized and pay attention to the small details. One of my favorite parts of the internship, though, was creating Instagram content to promote our clients and highlight the demos. Seeing our posts reach over 1,000 accounts, with 50% being people who weren’t already following us, was a huge win for me. It showed me how powerful the right content can be in growing a brand’s audience.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned was how to balance multiple projects while working remotely. I attended weekly strategy meetings with the team, where we brainstormed ideas and adjusted our approach based on results. It really taught me how to stay on top of my responsibilities while also collaborating and communicating effectively with others, even in a virtual setting.

If you’re a student looking to get into marketing or digital content creation, I’d definitely recommend searching for internships like this one. Taking classes like COM 360 was so helpful because it gave me a foundation for understanding how brand ambassadors and influencers work, which I used every day in my role. I’d also encourage anyone to be open to remote positions—they might seem intimidating at first, but they give you the flexibility to learn and work with people you might not have access to otherwise.

Overall, this internship gave me hands-on experience that I never could have gained in a classroom alone. I learned how to communicate with teams, track operations, and create content that makes an impact. Most importantly, it confirmed my interest in marketing and content creation, and I’m so excited to take what I’ve learned into my future career.
