ACADEMIC ADVISING
All School of Communication undergraduate students are welcome to meet with any of our advisors in the School of Communication. At least one advisor is available every day, Monday through Friday, during the fall and spring semesters. For quick questions, you can also access Dr. Arleen Bejerano, Dr. Andrea Weber, and Mr. Ezequiel Jimenez messaging them directly on Microsoft Teams.
You can also meet with a Peer Mentor to discuss many of your questions (see below for more information).
To meet with your advisor:
- Online appointments are conducted through Microsoft Teams (not Zoom). Microsoft Teams is available for free using your Chapman credentials. - Walk-in hours are in-person (second floor of Doti Hall) and do NOT require an appointment. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis during walk-in hours.
HINT: If you can’t find an appointment, come see us during walk-in hours! Walk-in hours tend to be slow after the first hour.
Registration Advising Hours
Please note that we will not be having online appointments or walk-in hours from 12/23-1/5. Response time to Teams Messages and E-mails may be slower than usual.

- Thursday (1:00-4:00):
- In person and online appointments (outside of Thursday afternoons are on demand over Interterm. Please reach out over Teams or e-mail to schedule an in person appointment.

- Monday – Friday mornings (9-12):
- Tuesday (1:00-4): Walk-in to Doti 206
A few things to remember when using Microsoft Teams:
- For appointments, you must book using your Chapman credentials through this link: Online appointment link
- Download Microsoft Teams before your appointment (it is free using your Chapman credentials).
- Please be logged in to Microsoft Teams during your appointment window. A program advisor will reach out to you via Video Chat during your appointment window.
- If you are not in California, please remember that appointments are PST.
Reach out to either advisor (Dr. Weber or Mr. Jimenez) if you want:
- To review your major program evaluation
- To ask questions about your schedule (both short and long term)
- Help researching minors or double majors that match your interests
- Help planning your SoC courses
- Help adding another Major, Minor, or Themed Inquiry
- Assistance with GE courses, transfer credit, or general advising questions

PEER MENTORING (Fall and Spring Semester Only)
Reach out to a School of Communication Peer Mentor via e-mail or visit during walk-in hours on the second floor lobby couches of Doti Hall (check the SoC Info Portal on Canvas for times) if you want:
- Assistance understanding your program evaluation
- To learn about ways to get involved with SoC groups on campus
- To ask about the student experience in School of Communication major courses and instructor teaching styles
- To receive advice about resources and support on campus (advice, resources, support)

STUDY ABROAD/GLOBAL EDUCATION
The School of Communication faculty encourage you to study abroad at some point during your college career. Meeting regularly with your School of Communication Academic Advisors will assure that this is something you can do during your time at Chapman. You have many options to study abroad including Travel Courses, International Internships, and full semester programs!
You should already have your Global First Steps just from taking COM or SCC 100 at Chapman University!
