Chapman marks a landmark event this fall – the inauguration of its new University president. On Friday, Sept. 30, Chancellor and President-Designate Daniele Struppa formally replaces President Jim Doti, who is stepping down after 25 years at Chapman’s helm to return to teaching. Inauguration events begin Monday, Sept. 26, and conclude with The Chapman Family Homecoming Celebration Friday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 2.

Let’s Do Ice Cream!

Join the President Elect for an old-fashioned ice cream social with all the toppings from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, in George H. W. Bush Conference Center, Beckman Hall, Room 404. Free.

Celebrating Creativity with Film Director Werner Herzog

This extraordinary evening features Werner Herzog, renowned German film director, producer, screenwriter and author in a discussion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Musco Center for the Arts. The event also welcomes the new president with performances of dance, music and special effects embellishing a recitation of “L’infinito” by Giacomo Leopardi. Seventh Annual Chili Cook-Off

Sample the culinary creations of Chapman teams competing in this annual tradition on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the Aitken Arts Plaza in front of the Musco Center for the Arts. Free admission. Tasting tickets, beer, wine and other food options will be available for purchase on site.
