Chapman University joined thousands of community members in celebrating this year’s Orange May Parade, part of the “Celebrate Orange” weekend honoring America’s 250th birthday under the theme, “Orange You Glad It’s America’s Birthday? Celebrating 250 Years.”

Hosted by the Orange Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the parade featured more than 70 entries, including elected officials, schools, marching bands, dancers, equestrians, and community groups. The long-running tradition dates back to 1933, originally part of the May Festival celebrating the Valencia orange harvest and remaining one of Orange’s signature civic events.

Chapman’s presence was highlighted by Pete the Panther alongside participating staff, alumni, and families who helped energize the crowd and showcase school spirit. The university also served as a sponsor of all three Celebrate Orange events–the Parade, Taste of Orange, and Rotary Car Show–benefiting local nonprofits.

Elizabeth Holloman, Orange May Parade Chair and Board Member of the Orange Chamber of Commerce Foundation, praised Chapman University for its continued partnership since 2019 and thanked Alisa Driscoll, Chapman’s Vice President of Community Relations for her leadership and lasting impact on the parade’s continued success.
