Senior Spotlight: Lauren Caboot (’26 Psychology) Finding confidence and purpose at Chapman by studying abroad in Italy creating lifelong memories.
May 13, 2026
What’s one unexpected opportunity or experience you’ve had at Chapman that you never imagined before enrolling?
One experience I never imagined before enrolling at Chapman was studying abroad in Florence, Italy in Spring 2024. Getting to travel around Europe for three months was truly life-changing and gave me memories and experiences I will carry with me forever.
Can you share a moment when a professor, advisor, or classmate made a big difference in your college journey?
One of the most influential moments in my college journey was my sophomore year Anatomy Lab with Dr. Wilson. Before that class, I often struggled with academic confidence and found myself comparing my performance to others. That lab was one of the first experiences where I truly felt proud of myself and supported by a professor. Dr. Wilson believed in me and encouraged me to succeed, which completely shifted my confidence. After returning as a Lab Intern the following year, I built a close relationship with her that I still value today. That experience helped me recognize my capabilities and feel excited about my future.
What’s your favorite hidden gem on campus or around town that new students have to check out?
One of my favorite things in Orange is the Farmers Market! My roommates and I love to walk there on Saturday mornings and I will miss it so much when I graduate!
Some activities that I enjoy are working out, going on walks around the Orange neighborhoods, going to concerts, going to the beach, and trying new restaurants and coffee/matcha places with my friends!
If you could describe your experience at Chapman in one word, what would it be—and why?
If I could describe my experience at Chapman in one word, I would describe it as transformative. I feel like I am a completely different person than who I was before I came to Chapman. I have found my passions, have become confident in who I am, have learned what I truly value, and have met so many incredible, lifelong friends.
What are your future plans? What is next?
After graduation in May, I’ll be going home to Gig Harbor, WA for the summer, and in August will be moving to Charleston, SC to begin my Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at Medical University of South Carolina!
Congratulations Lauren!!
