Clinical faculty members and alumni from Chapman’s graduate Physician Assistant Studies program (PA Studies) have been providing frontline COVID-19 medical care at hospitals and clinics throughout Orange County for several weeks.  Images of them wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE) have been widely circulated on social media but many students and members of the Chapman community want more details about what they are experiencing. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer.

Associate clinical professor and chair of Chapman’s PA Studies program, Mike Burney, EdD, PA-C will be a guest on Ask the Experts – COVID-19 Research Town Hall on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. He will be speaking about his own experience providing frontline medical care during the pandemic as well as those of his colleagues in the PA Studies program. Dr. Burney has been a practicing Physician Assistant for 28 years with 15 of those years spent serving the Orange County community. He is currently working extra shifts at HealthPointe Occupational Medicine in Corona.

Dr. Burney will be joined by Dr. Peter Simi, an expert on domestic terrorism and hate crimes and Dr. Claudine Jaenichen, currently part of the Design Network for Emergency Management. This group launched a survey to collect data to benchmark the effectiveness of information and visual infrastructures (this includes written text in print and on-screen) distributed to the public on COVID-19.

We are encouraging the entire Crean College community to tune in next Tuesday using the link below:
