Join us for a DIY Filmmaking & Building a Career Workshop From Slamdance
September 15, 2014
Join us in the Folino Theater on September 25, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, when the Slamdance Film Festival will present a practical, no-nonsense workshop that will help you showcase your work at film festivals, gain recognition, and build a career. The presentation will be by Slamdance’s president / Co-founder Peter Baxter
Slamdance (the alternative festival to Sundance) was established by a wild bunch of filmmakers who did not want to take “no” for an answer. Year after year, the independent organization has proven that when it comes to recognizing talent, launching careers, and showcasing great film, Slamdance can do it like no other company.
To date, Filmmakers who first showcased their work at Slamdance have generated over 11 billion dollars at the Box Office. Active Slamdance alumni include industry titans such as Inception and The Dark Knight’s Christopher Nolan, Girls’ creator and star Lena Dunham, Academy Award nominee Benh Zeitlin, Captain America’s the Russo Brothers, Paranormal Activity’s Oren Peli, and soon to be Star Wars’ director Rian Johnson. Slamdance generates over 2 billion media impressions per year worldwide, and continues to be a trusted global resource for new and emerging filmmakers who send 7,500 submissions to the festival each year. Slamdance’s 2014 program included film premiers from 25 countries and every continent in the world.
