Introducing the Dodge Screening Series! Each week during the month of May we will highlight a movie or tv series that has a Dodge College Alum in a key creative role. By curating a selection of films and shows by our Dodge College community for our Dodge College community we hope that it helps us all feel a little less isolated during this time.

BLINDSPOTTING is our inaugural film in the Dodge Screening Series.

BLINDSPOTTING is about a man named Collin (Daveed Diggs) who must make it through his final three days of probation for a chance at a new beginning. He and his troublemaking childhood best friend, Miles (Rafael Casal), work as movers and are forced to watch their old neighborhood become a trendy spot in the rapidly gentrifying Bay Area. When a life-altering event causes Collin to miss his mandatory curfew, the two men struggle to maintain their friendship as the changing social landscape exposes their differences.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018 and also screened at the SXSW Film Festival. BLINDSPOTTING went on to screen at festivals all over the world while garnering awards along the way, including a “Directors to Watch” award from the Palm Springs International Film Festival. In July of 2018 the film was released in theaters.

Carlos López Estrada (BFA/FP ’12) directed the film. After his time at Dodge, Carlos went on to direct numerous music videos, television episodes, and a few films. His new film, SUMMERTIME, just had it’s World Premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

While you’re watching the film this week post a photo, or your thoughts, on social media using the hashtag #DodgeScreeningSeries to join in on the conversation. BLINDSPOTTING is available to stream via HBO and is available to rent on all other major platforms!
