Dr. Montgomery blogs with President Doti
February 23, 2012
The CES’s very own
Dr. Judy Montgomery
is working with President Jim Doti and Lisa Mertins on their blog about their new children’s book endeavor. President Doti will write the story and Lisa will illustrate it. They collaborated on their first children’s book,
A Christmas Adventure in Little Italy
in 2010. It is the story of little Jimmy, his
Nonna
(grandmother), his beloved dog Blackie, and their adventures the day before Christmas about fifty years ago in the bustling “Little Italy” neighborhood of Chicago. This new book revisits the character of little Jimmy, a first grader with a speech impediment who is asked by his teacher to appear in the class play, “The Elves and the Shoemaker.”
The blog, ”
Creating a Children’s Book and Blogging about it
,” chronicles the process of President Doti and Lisa Mertins as they work on the story and Dr. Montgomery will contribute as an expert on speech and language pathology and children’s speech acquisition.
All the proceeds from this new book will be donated to the CES
Communication Sciences and Disorders
program, which Dr. Montgomery directs.
