At our 2024 GCI Postdoc Showcase, Postdoctoral Fellow Sayani Ghosh presented a poster about astrophysical isomers that are found in supernova explosions and binary star mergers.  To learn more about her research, reach out to Dr. Ghosh at saghosh@chapman.edu.

ABSTRACT: My research bridges the fields of mathematics and theoretical physics. To be specific, I apply graph-theory-based tools to physical scenarios to get meaningful insight about them. This work focuses on the part of my PhD dissertation where I computed effective rates of transition in astrophysical Isomers that are found in supernova explosions and binary star mergers. I did this using graph theory-based theorems that were developed as part of my PhD research.
