Professor Katherine Darmer was quoted in an article in the Orange County Register entitled, “Mike Carona: From ‘America’s Sheriff’ to Defendant.” With jury selection set to begin in the corruption case against former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona, the article discusses the case and the multiple motions to dismiss filed by Carona’s attorneys. Professor Darmer expressed doubt that the motions would be granted and said that the government appears to have a strong case against Corona. “If all the government had was Haidl [Carona’s former assistant sheriff], then I may agree that prosecutors don’t have much of a case.
