Christmas Across Cultures Happy Holidays from the Leatherby Libraries
December 20, 2024
The Leatherby Libraries is pleased to announce our final reference desk display for 2024, Christmas Across Cultures. This display was inspired by the wide range of Christmas traditions that take place around the world.
To get in the holiday spirit, our Library staff decorated the Reference Desk with pinecones, a miniature Christmas tree, and poinsettia to go along with this book display. Books included in the display are Christmas Cultures: A Global Perspective by Jeffrey N. Smith and The Atlas of Christmas by Alexander Palmer. These books explore the different traditions that are practiced within different cultures to celebrate the Christmas Holiday. From Eastern Europe and the Middle East to Japan and Mexico, these books explore rich cultural significance of Christmas across communities while also seeking to understand how connections between countries have influenced contemporary holiday traditions
This display will remain up through the beginning of January.
This book display was curated by Leatherby Libraries Student Employees Isabella Piechota ’25, Arianna Tillman ’25, and Annikah Carpio ’26.
