October 24, 2022, marked the 77th anniversary of the United Nations. The Leatherby Libraries honored this day with a book display.

The Leatherby Libraries’ United Nations Book Display draws attention to the significance of the United Nations’ history. With over 30 books on display, we inspire students to learn more about the history of the United Nations, sustainability efforts, and peace-building. Inspired by the United Nations’ 17 sustainability goals, we hope to remind students of the necessary steps for our future.

The goals are:

“United Nations Day, on 24 October, marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.

UN Day, celebrated every year, offers the opportunity to amplify our common agenda and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided us for the past 77 years”.

The Leatherby Libraries strives to support the UN goals for sustainability with our future events, displays, exhibits, and resources. Please check out this display on the first floor for the next month.
