Dr. Jerika Lam selected to participate in the FIP Patient Safety Policy Committee
March 24, 2020
Dr. Jerika Lam was selected to participate in the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Patient Safety Policy Committee to develop a policy statement on Pharmacy’s role in Patient Safety. Members are selected from around the world based on their contributions to the area of patient safety. The Committee is comprised of pharmacists working in different settings of pharmacy practice or pharmacy associations with expertise in the matter.
The policy statement will reflect FIP’s stance on a variety of professional, ethical, and social issues concerning patient safety and the pharmacy profession worldwide. As a Committee member, I work with FIP to advocate for the pharmacy profession and protect the patient’s best interests.
FIP is the global body representing over 4 million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists. FIP is a non-governmental organization that works with other international entities, such as the World Health Organization, World Health Professions Alliance, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. FIP supports the development of the pharmacy profession through practice and emerging scientific innovations and the pharmacy workforce to meet the world’s healthcare needs and expectations. FIP aims to promote universal health coverage and supports its attainment through the work in three main areas: science, practice, and education. The international member organizations use the policy recommendations made by FIP for advocacy purposes or to advance the pharmacy and pharmaceutical professions.
