Dr. Caitlin Calhoun, Doctor of Pharmacy ’21, was recognized as a recipient of the 2024 Miltenyi Biotec Immunology Innovator Award for her work in improving pediatric patient outcomes of high risk leukemias through biomarker discoveries.

Currently serving as a Staff Scientist at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Dr. Calhoun is passionate about improving children’s health through her research and having a direct impact on her pediatric patients. The recognition comes with several perks, including round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and registration to attend the Immunology2024 meeting. This meeting offers attendees access to networking and learning opportunities from industry leaders in immunology through presentations and workshop sessions.

Miltenyi Biotech focuses on solutions for cell and gene therapy through biomedical research, with aims to affect the way health care professionals treat cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Calhoun also completed her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry through Schmid College of Science and Technology in 2012.
