Welcoming Shawn Scott as SPS Contracts & Grants Administrator

The Office of Research is pleased to announce that Shawn Scott has joined Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) in the role of Contracts & Grants Administrator, as of August 2nd. Shawn came to Chapman University after having spent the past 13 years managing all federal funding in Guam’s Department of Administration’s Division of Accounting where he oversaw all federal expenditures and draws for the organization. During his time with the Department of Administration, Shawn made significant contributions to process improvement and implementation in areas like record-keeping, payment, and reporting processes. Shawn has a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of the award lifecycle, which will serve him and the departments he supports here at Chapman well.
Shawn will provide SPS financial post-award support to his assigned portfolio, as noted below. This support will include expenditure review and approval, preparation and submission of financial reports, approval of invoices and federal funding draws, and various other duties involved in the financial oversight of sponsored activity. Shawn will be working alongside Molly McCarty, Senior SPS Research Administrator (pre-award and non-financial post-award) and can be reached via the contact information below or through Teams.
