Chapman Food Science students win the regional Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) College Bowl competition and advance.

This past weekend, Chapman University hosted the 28th Annual IFT Mountain West Food Science area meeting and College Bowl Competition.  Six schools attended and five of them competed for a spot in the national competition.  After a grueling double elimination quiz tournament on food science trivia, Chapman faced off against BYU in the final round to emerge victorious, becoming the 2013 Mountain West regional champions!

The competition tested the students on various food science topics from food processing and engineering to culinology and molecular gastronomy.

During the final round, Chapman University took an early lead. The game came down to a final microbiology question, to which Amber Hoekstra answered correctly, winning the round and the tournament.
