Chapman University’s inaugural Discover Research and Arts Week was a smashing success! Though the festivities have come to a close and the hype has died down, the buzz about undergraduate research and creative activity continues to pulsate around campus.

Looking back on DRAW there are so many exciting and inspirational highlights:

Did you hear about Town & Gown?

Town & Gown at Chapman University is an organization founded in 1968 that is committed to campus and community engagement, as well as providing scholarships for outstanding students. During DRAW Town & Gown held their first Lunch at the Forum of the season, featuring Chapman faculty speakers Dr. Douglas Dechow, and OURCA’s own Co-Director, Dr. Anna Leahy. Sharing their book Generation Space: A Love Story, Dr. Dechow and Dr. Leahy captivated attendees with the story of their relationship in the context of space-age technological change. The event also included many of OURCA’s student researchers sharing their creative and scholarly projects.

Did you dine for free with your favorite professor?

Throughout the entire week of DRAW, students jumped at the chance to get to know Chapman University faculty outside the classroom. Randall Dining Hall was filled with student-faculty engagement, the hum of scholarly discussion, and, of course, lots of laughter. Chapman University’s “Personalized Education of Distinction” truly culminates in this unique opportunity to converse with admired professors. If you missed Lunch with a Professor Week this semester, be sure to attend this coming spring from April 2nd to the 6th!

Did you network at the Faculty Research Expo

The Bush Conference Room in Beckman Hall was packed with impassioned creatives and academics of Chapman University’s esteemed faculty. Across all disciplines and colleges, faculty presented captivating research and creative projects to over 200 expo attendees! The energy in the room was palpable as student curiosity met faculty prowess, allowing undergraduates to connect to potential faculty mentors. This event epitomized the spirit of DRAW, enlivening the spirit of academic inquiry and uniting students with the means to pave their path to success!
