Professor Jaenichen Presented with a Medal of Public Service

Professor Claudine Jaenichen
was presented with a Medal of Public Service from San Diego County’s Emergency Management for her team’s work on tsunami evacuation information. The medal was presented at the Unified Disaster Council on Thursday, December 12, 2013 by Holly Crawford, Director of Emergency Services for the County of San Diego County.

The tsunami evacuation campaign will launch March 2014 and will be distributed via mass mailing to all residences living in the following cities: Del Mar, Coronado, Carlsbad, Imperial Beach, Encinitas, Oceanside, National City, City of San Diego, and Solana Beach, an estimated 200,000 residences will receive their tsunami evacuation brochure and map.

Also, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) had proposed to fund kiosks for all of those cities (attached is an image of the kiosk in Huntington Beach).
