Organizations behave like courses and contain tools that enable members to communicate efficiently. Organizations are an ideal place to connect with colleges, departments, faculty, staff, and/or students for activities that are in support of the educational, research, or administrative mission of the University.

Like a Blackboard course, an Organization includes:
Document sharing (papers, agendas, minutes, reports, etc.)
Planning and administration (announcements, emails, calendar)
Communication (mailing lists, discussion boards)
Groups (communications and document sharing between members)
Links to other on-line resources (web pages, databases)
Building and Sharing multimedia content (YouTube, Vimeo, Lynda)
Assessments and Grade Center (achievements, certificate, badges)

Unlike a Blackboard course, an Organization:
Cannot be used for course credit-earning activities
Can only be requested by full-time faculty and staff
Does not support the use of Turnitin
Does not support LTI Tools

Managing an organization:
Blackboard Organization Leaders are responsible for manually enrolling, unenrolling, and editing participants. If you need the organization to be auto populated please specify in the Organization Request Form below:

You can request a Blackboard Organization at the Organization Request Form.

Locate organizations:
You will find your Organization under the My Organizations module on the dashboard of Blackboard. As well as, selecting the Community tab. You can search for organizations or browse the full list of available organizations. A list of organizations you’ve already joined also appears on this page.
