Hey there! I’m Jacob Brewster, and I’m excited to share my experience as a Sales Marketing Intern at Newcove, a clothing brand based in Miami. I found this opportunity through Chapman University’s networking and friends of friends. I was thrilled to join the team because the role combined my love for marketing strategy and content creation, two areas I’m truly passionate about.

Marketing Intern at NewCove

From December 2024 to January 2025, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the founding team to develop marketing strategies focused on growing brand awareness across the West Coast. The impact was immediate; we also drove nearly 65% of all Q1 sales for Newcove’s whole first collection. It was a great experience to see the results of our work translate into real business growth, in addition to marketing strategy. These programs were able to take part in areas where product-market fit wasn’t that optimal.

A huge part of my role was also trying to manage Newcove’s Instagram. I was fortunate to work alongside the founder, who took over the content curation. This, to me, was an incredible experience. Over a month period, our follower count grew by 32%, reaching a total of 26,000 followers!  This engagement was one of my most rewarding efforts.

Beyond just applying and using my knowledge, the internship overall has taught me so much about real-world marketing. I was also NewCove Tote Bagable to learn how to juggle multiple projects as well as track performance metrics and measure a campaign’s overall success. I believe that the hands-on experience I took part in was invaluable, and it taught me how to work remotely with a team while still keeping everything running as smoothly as possible. One of the most rewarding experiences during my internship was being able tp see the impact of my Instagram management. I helped curate content that resonated with our audience and led to a significant increase in engagement and followers. Also, over this past month, I was able to directly see how a strong social media presence helped build brand loyalty. The most valuable experience I had was learning how to thrive in a remote work environment. For me, managing tasks and collaborating across time zones, as well as staying organized, were all skills I had to sharpen. It was very challenging at first and still is, but ultimately, very rewarding.

If you’re considering a career in marketing or digital content creation, I highly recommend seeking out internships like the one I had. Hands-on experience is also invaluable and can also truly shape skills that can be valuable for other jobs. My internship at Newcove confirmed my passion for marketing and sales. I got to work on amazing projects as well as drive meaningful results, and develop new skills that I’ll carry with me into my future career. If you’re looking to dive into marketing, don’t hesitate to pursue any sort of internship. No internship is a bad one! You will learn from what you like and don’t like!
