With the inauguration of Chapman University’s 13th President, Daniele Struppa, the campus was beaming with pride and had countless events for students, families, alumni, and guests to attend in honor of President Struppa. One of these key events was a discussion forum moderated by Chapman’s Psychology Chair Dr. Laura Glynn, Ph.D. titled “Through the Window of Consciousness: An Interdisciplinary Exploration”.

In this discussion forum participants in various fields including Carolyn Forche, Gopi Kallayil, Keith McCarty, Pedro Noguera, and Najeeba Syeed held a lively discussion on the concept of consciousness. More information on the participants can be found here. The purpose of this discussion was to bring high-profile leaders from fields including academia, business and technology to discuss ways in which consciousness applies to their field and how it influences lives and perceptions.

When discussing with Dr. Laura Glynn the purpose of the discussion forum and what she hopes the audience gains from this experience she stated “I hope those who attend the discussion will be enlightened in all of the different ways consciousness can be a part of different fields in today’s society”. After the invigorating discussion it is safe to say several audience members got just what Dr. Glynn hoped for. The discussion forum was sold out and the audience was composed of over one thousand people including students, parents, family members, faculty, staff and friends of Chapman University!
