On December 3, 2021, PA Studies held their annual White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2022 (short coat). It was a in-person experience with students and faculty gathered in Beckman Hall at the George Bush Conference Center. During the ceremony graduate students, Gina Wang ’22 and Summer Walker ’22 were announced as the 2021 recipients of the prestigious Jon and Keith Dyer Fellowship Awards. Jon’s passion for advancing the future of medical care giving is based on his experience caring for his late brother Keith, who had cerebral palsy. Read his personal story here.  His generosity will offset a portion of the awardees’ second-year tuition.

The PA faculty selected Gina and Summer based on three criteria:  academic performance during the didactic year of the PA program, emerging potential as a clinician, and leadership and/or volunteerism. Both students were delighted when their names were announced at the White Coat ceremony.

Gina was recognized by the PA Faculty as a student strong in academics, performs exceptionally well in clinical skills, and always demonstrates leadership by helping other students, and sets a great example for her classmates.

Summer was recognized by the PA Faculty as a top academic performer, demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills, and goes above and beyond what is required by demonstrating leadership skills. She is a great teammate and classmate.

Most PA grad students will tell you that didactic year requires extreme discipline and laser focus to be successful. Enormous amounts of studying vital information must be committed to memory in a very short amount of time.

We congratulate both students on this incredible accomplishment and thank the Dyer Family for their generous contributions to Crean College.
