Queridos amigos y colegas,

As Libreria Martinez de Chapman University approaches it’s first anniversary in October 2013, I want to thank you for your continuous support that has allowed our innovative and collaborative educational outreach efforts to SOAR! We are so proud to offer programs that enrich the brilliant young minds of our future community and global leaders, and expand cultural boundaries.

Some of the exciting programs that are being offered at Libreria Martinez de Chapman University include: Bilingual Story Time for preschoolers, parent education modules through Padres Unidos, Cien de Rueben Book Club and an upcoming Mentoring Program for teens from Santa Ana High School. We also have monthly art shows and booksignings with top notch artists and authors. We have something for everyone so please stop in for a visit. I’m usually at the bookstore on Wednesdays and would love to see and greet you!

I’m also absolutely thrilled to invite you to meet author Alfredo Corchado and hear him discuss his new book, Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter’s Journey Through a Country’s Descent Into Darkness. Alfredo will share riveting tales of his experience as an American journalist on the front line of the Mexican drug war and the truth about the complicated drug cartel relationships on both sides of the border. His reporting dug so deep that he himself became a target of the cartels.

This event is extra special because the bookstore’s long  time friend, author, journalist and CNN reporter
