Calling all participants in the Community of Readers program! Community of Readers now has a presence Goodreads – a social media platform designed for readers and book recommendations. Goodreads can help you track what you’re reading, find books you’ll love, and share your book reviews with friends. If you’re new to Goodreads and are interested in learning more, we’re hosting a Goodreads demo at the Leatherby Libraries next month. This info session will walk you through the process of creating an account, adding books to your profile page, and writing reviews. We’ll also go over all the exciting features of our Chapman-specific Goodreads group.

  • The demo will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 3 p.m. in the Leatherby Libraries computer classroom (LL305)
  • Community of Readers participants can earn credit for one book review for attendance to the discussion

For those of you already on Goodreads, the Leatherby Libraries Community of Readers Goodreads group has some fun features that can make your summer reading even more enjoyable:

  • Links to suggested reading: You may know about our suggested reading lists, compiled by library staff around genres or themes like “Feel Good Books” or “Books into Movies.” We’ve added some of these lists to the Goodreads group. Now you can browse these collections, look at cover art, and read reviews by other Goodreads users. And of course, all items on these Goodreads “bookshelves” are part of the Leatherby Libraries collection – available for you to check out and review to earn prizes this summer.
  • Discussion posts: Just read an exciting book and want to discuss it with your fellow readers? Looking for a relaxing book to take with you to the beach next week? The Leatherby Libraries Community of Readers Goodreads group has a discussion forum where you can start conversations or comment on others’ posts to get your fellow Panthers’ advice or opinions on what to read next.

Happy reading! Learn more about the Community of Readers program.
