Jim Doti Mountaineering BobbleheadLocated in the Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives, the newest exhibit, “The Spirit of our Leaders: Presidents of Chapman University” has recently been installed. This exhibit was curated by Chloe Van Stralendorff,  Special Collections Intern, in celebration of the upcoming inauguration of President Daniele C. Struppa.

The exhibit features various archived materials including photographs, documents and newspaper references from the history of the university. As Chapman approaches a new period, this exhibit is a great way to look back and focus on the innovation and groundbreaking moments in its presidential history.

“The ephemera of this exhibition consists of correspondence and photographs taken from the University Archives, illustrating the perseverance, fortitude and spirit of Chapman University’s leaders. This exhibition begins with the founding fathers, members of the ‘The Disciples of Christ,’ and progresses through to the devoted 25 year presidency of James L. Doti.

In order to fully expound Chapman University’s heritage, the Archives integrated various alumni realia, historical events and public reviews. These items form the collective memory of a distinguished legacy of leadership throughout Chapman University’s history.”

Join Dean Charlene Baldwin on October 1st for her Dialogue with the Dean: “Daniele C. Struppa: Our 13th President.” The event will include a tour of the archives as well as this exhibit, where Chloe Van Stralendorff will be in attendance. For a full description of the event, click here.

Located on the fourth floor of the Leatherby Libraries, “The Spirit of Our Leaders” is a great space to reflect and remember. Make sure to visit the space in the Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives during Chapman’s Inauguration Week and Homecoming Weekend!
