Last year, the Leatherby Libraries helped organize the first ever Orange County Archives Bazaar, which was a smashing success. This year, we are happy to be participating again in this excellent cultural heritage event, which will take place on Saturday, October 26th, from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Hilbert Museum of California Art.

The Orange County Archives Bazaar is a regional day-long public event which will bring libraries, special collections, archives, museums, historical societies, and other cultural heritage institutions together to showcase material from their collections and highlight the known and unknown stories of Orange County. In additional to exhibitors, the bazaar will include presentations from Orange County’s community members knowledgeable about the region’s history.

Important visual representations of the past, present, and future, murals are valuable forms of public art that promote a sense of identity, belonging, and community among people in a place. The speaker series for this year’s Orange County Archives Bazaar will explore the history and meaning behind murals as profound displays of art and culture with the ability to empower communities in Orange County.

Free parking for the event is available at the Orange Metrolink Station and in the OTC Parking Structure on 130 N Lemon Street, Orange, CA 92866, northwest corner of Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue.
