Like so much else this year, Chapman University Homecoming 2020 will look very different from its previous iterations. Instead of a short weekend of in-person activities, there’s an entire week of virtual activities planned, from October 5th through October 10th, meaning that Homecoming is coming home to each of you. Likewise, the Leatherby Libraries will be shifting from our traditional physical presence at Homecoming to offering at-home ways of learning more about our resources and services.

In lieu of a tour of the Leatherby Libraries, take a deep dive into highlights of our collections through the “Leatherby Libraries from Home” series on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Most of the posts in the “Leatherby Libraries from Home” series are taken from the Chapman University Digital Commons, the home for the scholarship, publications, archives, and creative expression of Chapman University’s faculty, students, and staff, which celebrated a major milestone earlier this year. Browse through the collections there, to see everything from pictures of past presidents of Chapman University to World War II propaganda posters.

Speaking of our war archives, the Digital Commons offers the opportunity to read through selections from the Center for American War Letters Archives. The archives contain letters from every American conflict, and letters going as far back as the U.S. Civil War can be found here on the Digital Commons.

We’ve even got a collection of photos from Homecomings dating back to 1998, if you’re craving a healthy dose of nostalgia. (The cover image for this post is from Homecoming 2008, one of the years included in this collection.)

Craving some good ol’ California’s Gold episodes with Huell Howser? Good news! The Huell Howser Archives are available online, so you can watch Huell visit some of California’s most interesting places and people from the comfort of your own couch.

Finally, want to feel like you’re back in the Leatherby Libraries as you catch up with your college friends? Check out our album of perfectly sized images of the Leatherby Libraries for your Zoom background!

Head on over to the Homecoming Hub to learn more about other offerings during the week of Homecoming. Happy Homecoming, Panthers!
